Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian, Game of Thrones) and Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones) are set to star in HBO’s adaptation of the critically acclaimed video game The Last of Us created by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann according to Deadline.com.
Twenty years prior, a pandemic ravaged the United State and modern civilization had been destroyed. Joel (Pascal), a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie (Ramsey), a 14-year-old girl, from the quarantine zone. Joel must trek across a post-apocalyptic America while protecting the girl who represents the last hope of humanity. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal and heartbreaking journey where Ellie and Joel must depend upon each other for survival as they fight their way through a desolated land and violent attackers.
The Last of Us series was first announced back in March as being in development, with the show landing a formal series development in November. As revealed by the Hollywood Reporter in early March, the series will “cover the events of the original game…with the possibility of additional content based on the forthcoming game sequel [The last of Us 2]”. HBO has yet to announce a release date.
