Pat Priest Joins Cast Of Rob Zombie’s ‘The Munsters’

Has the ugly duckling come home to roost?

Pat Priest–who played Marilyn (the “homely” niece) for most of the original The Munsters TV series–has been cast in Rob Zombie’s upcoming feature film reboot. Check out Zombie’s Instagram post that makes the official announcement on this page.

Fans of the ’60s show had been wondering if Priest (along with Butch Patrick’s Eddie Munster) would return for the film, and now–as Zombie posted–“for once, the rumors are true.” But, at least for now, only for Priest. Stay tuned for any announcement on Patrick’s potential involvement.

The big question, of course, is will Priest reprise her role as Marilyn or play an entirely different character? Will Marilyn appear in the film as an older person, with the monstrous Munsters clan remaining ageless? Only Zombie knows at this point.

The Munsters PG-rated reboot–led by flamboyant filmmaker/musician Zombie–stars Jeff Daniel Phillips as Herman, Sheri Moon Zombie as Lily, Daniel Roebuck as Grandpa, Richard Brake as Dr. Henry Augustus Wolfgang, Jorge Garcia as Floop, Sylvester McCoy as Igor, Catherine Schell as Zoya Krupp, Cassandra Peterson (Elvira herself) as Barbara Carr, Dee Wallace as the voice of Good MorningTransylvania, Tomas Boykin as Lester and Jeremy Wheeler as Mr. Gateman.

The movie still does not have a debut date, but it’s believed it may have a day-and-date release in theaters and on Peacock. Confirmation should come down the pipeline fairly soon.

The Munsters TV series–which ran on CBS from 1964-1965–starred Fred Gwynne as Herman, Yvonne De Carlo as Lily and Al Lewis as Grandpa, along with Patrick and Priest (who replaced Beverley Owen).
