Ormond Joins the Cast of ‘The Walking Dead: World Beyond’

As season 10 of The Walking Dead winds (or whispers, rather) to its mid-season finale, AMC remains busy building the TWD empire for years to come.  According to Deadline, the network has announced that Emmy winner Julia Ormond will join the cast of The Walking Dead: World Beyond, the second spin-off series for the cultural phenomenon that will also spawn a series of feature films in the near future.  Show-runner Scott M. Gimple will executive-produce, along with series veterans Matt Negrete, Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, and David Alpert.

Ormond (AMC’s Mad Men, Chained) will play the leader of a large, possibly militant group who is seen as persuasive and strong.  Her involvement was revealed in a teaser trailer released by the network on Sunday (see below.)  In addition to the general excitement around the expansion of the TWD stratosphere, the trailer contains numerous details sure to get the zombie fan excited:  a helicopter landing (Rick??), dark uniforms complete with a biohazard symbol, and a seemingly endless supply of weaponry (something the original show is sorely lacking right now.)  Ormond will be joined by her previously-announced cast mates, including Nico Tortorella (Scream 4) and Annet Mahendru (Tyrant).

The British actress won a Primetime Emmy back in 2010 as Best Supporting Actress for her role in Temple Grandin.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond will premiere on AMC in the Spring of 2020.  Keep tuned to HNN for news on the show as it breaks!
