Deadline is reporting that Orion Pictures has acquired Casa, a pitch from filmmaking brothers Andres and Diego Meza-Valdes. The flick is described as a socially conscious horror-thriller with an intergenerational tale centering on a Latino family.
The brothers commented on the project saying that “My brother and I have been genre fans our whole lives growing up in Miami. We are excited that we get to make such a terrifying story with a filmmaker-supportive group and especially the Orion brand that we’re such fans of.”
The brothers have gained notoriety with their 22-minute short film Boniato which played at Sundance back in 2015. A Vimeo page run by the siblings offers a glimpse of their work including Night Sirens, Haunt Ed, Play Dead, The Room, and Halfway. The duo also directed the third episode of Season 3 of Ash vs Evil Dead.
