Original ‘Ghost Hunters’ Return for New Travel Channel Series ‘Ghost Nation’

by Nick Banks

Many paranormal fans were upset to see Ghost Hunters leave the air in 2016, but with the popularity of ghostly programming all over the cable dial in recent years, it was only a matter of time before the trailblazers of reality ghost hunting television returned.

According to an official announcement by TAPS co-founder Jason Hawes, the boys are getting the van packed up for a triumphant return (this time on The Travel Channel instead of their original Syfy home).

Ghost Nation (as stated above) is the official working title for the new series, which will most likely premiere in the last quarter of 2019, just in time for the Halloween season.  No further details are available, other than the fact that Hawes will be joined by Ghost Hunter alumni, Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango.  The Travel Channel already airs Kindred Spirits featuring two more former Ghost Hunters, Amy Bruni and Adam Berry (brought over from sister channel, Destination America).

This isn’t the first time that the Travel Channel has lured the talent responsible for hits shows on Syfy to their network.  In 2015, the Travel Channel gave the popular host of Destination Truth, Josh Gates, a new home and audience with Expedition Unknown.

Since 2016, Syfy has removed all paranormal programming from their schedule, and are now known for their scripted television series.  At the height of their popularity, Ghost Hunters was one of the highest rated program in the history of  Syfy.
