‘Open Wounds’ Rounds Out Cast, Starts Shooting In Atlanta

When horror movies become all too real.

Open Wounds–a new horror pic from Day 28 Films and Bald Eagle Entertainment–is currently in production in Atlanta, according to a report on Deadline. No release window has yet been announced.

The film–directed by Ronald Krauss from a screenplay he wrote with Ryan Leeder and Joshua Courtade–stars Jack Kilmer (Palo Alto), Paris Jackson (American Horror Stories) and Eric Roberts (Babylon)–alongside Lambert Houston, Renata Notni, Richie Radichi and Jay Giannone.

Open Wounds follows Jefferson (Roberts), the owner of a fading indie horror studio, and his nephew Caleb (Kilmer), an aspiring makeup FX artist, who gets his break when Jefferson assigns him to a B horror movie about a vampire (Notni).

Caleb struggles with the assignment until he witnesses a murder, and bases an effect in his film on what he saw. Winning praise for his realistic effect, Caleb starts to commit his own murders to prep his movie effects–“losing his moral compass and descending into madness.”

The feature is produced by Krauss and Ira Houston, with Chung Dick and Thomas Carroll serving as executive producers.
