Meg 2: The Trench–the sequel to the 2018 undersea horror thriller–will cruise onto the big screen Aug. 4, and a trailer highlighting the frenetic action just dropped. Check out the video on this page.
The follow-up film–directed by Ben Wheatley from a screenplay by Dean Georgaris and Erich and Jon Hoeber–has been filming indoors near London and at outdoor locations in Asia.
Jason Statham returns in the lead role, alongside Cliff Curtis, Shuya Sophia Cai, Page Kennedy, Wu Jing, Sienna Guillory, Skyler Samuels and Sergio Peris-Mencheta.
The original The Meg–directed by Jon Turtelbaum and based on Steve Alten’s 1997 Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror–follows a U.S. Navy diver (Statham) who sets out to rescue a group of scientists from a 75-foot-long prehistoric shark known as a megalodon. The film earned $530 million worldwide on a $150-million budget.
