Official Title Announced For ‘Army Of The Dead’ Prequel

The news from Zack Snyder’s camp is in non-stop mode.

Just yesterday, Horror News Network unveiled the trailer for Snyder’s Army of the Dead zombie heist thriller–set to debut on Netflix May 21–and now the acclaimed filmmaker has announced the title for the prequel to Army, as reported by comicbook.com–a prequel that was heralded late last year.

This prequel–which has already wrapped production in Germany–will be called Army of Thieves. The feature film–produced by Snyder–does not have a premiere date at this time.

The film–written by Shay Hatten–will star and be directed by Matthias Schweighofer, who portrays Ludwig Dieter in Army of the Dead. Dieter is one of the mercenaries sent on a daring robbery assault on a zombie-infested Las Vegas casino. Thieves will deal with the backstory of these characters during the early days of the zombie apocalypse.

The prequel’s ensemble cast also includes Nathalie Emmanuel, Guz Khan, Ruby O. Fee, Stuart Martin and Jonathan Cohen.

Snyder seems to be all-in on both of these films. He said he is “incredibly excited to partner with Netflix as we expand the Day of the Dead universe with this prequel. It’s been a great collaboration.”

Keep reading Horror News Network for all future updates–that are flying at us willy-nilly lately–on Army of the Dead and its impending prequel Army of Thieves.
