This family is having a devil of a time.

Uncork’d Entertainment this week announced it’s giving the exorcism thriller Of the Devil a digital release Aug. 9, and a trailer dropped to let fans in on the scary storyline. Check out the video–courtesy of JoBlo.com–on this page.

Of the Devil–written and directed by Kelton Jones (Dry Blood) and based on a story by James Cullen Bressack–stars Eileen Dietz (who played the demon Pazuzu in the 1973 classic The Exorcist), Vernon Wells, Devanny Pinn and Robert LaSardo.

The film–according to an updated synopsis–follows “a desperate mother and father as they attempt to cure their eight-year-old son’s brain tumor by enlisting the help of a shamanistic healer.”

But, when the ritual causes the boy to be possessed by an ancient demon, “the father must face his own demons and return to his former life as a priest in order to save his son’s soul and to protect humanity from the evil he has unleashed.”

Uncork’d president Keith Leopard said fans of The Exorcist will “eat up this frightening possession thriller. It sent shivers up my spine.”
