Norman Reedus Says Daryl Dixon Spinoff Will Feel “Different”

One is the loneliest number.

The still-untitled Daryl Dixon spinoff of AMC’s flagship series The Walking Dead has had to be retooled since the departure of Melissa McBride’s Carol character, and Norman Reedus recently said that means the new show will look and feel different from TWD.

The spinoff–which will be set in and filmed in Europe later this year for a debut on AMC in 2023–will see Dixon “alone and on this mission,” Reedus told leoedit.com. “But the spinoff will look totally different from The Walking Dead. And, to be honest, you wouldn’t want to do this show as a spinoff exactly the same by yourself. It’s terrifying.”

Reedus said the show–led by showrunner David Zabel and chief content officer Scott Gimple–will have his Dixon character in different geography with different people. “I imagine I won’t understand what people are talking about for the most part, because I don’t think my character speaks any other languages,” he said.

The actor added that he “just wants to see something different. I want the tone to be different. I want the look to be different.”
