The future is lining up to be a very dangerous place.
Sand and Stones–a new survival thriller starring Nicolas Cage–has added a trio of actors as it starts filming in Dublin, according to a report on Deadline.
The feature–from director Ben Brewer (The Trust) and screenwriter Michael Nilon (Braven)–this week inked Jaeden Martell (It), Maxwell Jenkins (Lost in Space) and Sadie Soverall (Fate: The Winx Saga) to the cast. Martell and Jenkins will play Cage’s twin sons; Soverall’s role was not announced.
Set in the future, Sand and Stones depicts a sparsely populated world where normal life is no more. In this world Paul (Cage) and twin teenage sons Thomas (Jenkins) and Joseph (Martell) have managed to eke out an existence in their remote farmhouse, according to the synopsis.
But, in this environment, when the sun sets, ferocious creatures awaken to hunt and devour all living souls in their path. And, when Thomas makes a small mistake, the creatures gain the upper hand and attack. In a race against time, father and sons must execute a desperate plan for survival.
Cage also serves as producer of the Highland Film Group entry, along with Nilon, Braxton Pope, David Wulf, Arianne Fraser and Delphine Perrier. The executive producers include Slava Vladimirov, Jared Underwood and Andrew Robinson.
