Get ready–Ghostface and friends will be back in a year.
Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media apparently like to strike while the iron (or bloody knife) is hot. The sixth installment in the popular Scream film franchise is set for a March 31, 2023 release, according to a report on Deadline.
It was just yesterday that Horror News Network reported that legacy star Courteney Cox had the script for the next film, and was anxious to read it in anticipation of filming starting in June. And now, a release date is in the books. Can Neve Campbell (and other key actors) be far behind?
All this, of course, was made inevitable by the critical and commercial success enjoyed by this year’s Scream, which has now raked in more than $140 million at the global box office.
The same creative team is guiding this new film–with directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett working from the screenplay of James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. Now, all they need is a cast to work alongside Cox’ Gale Weathers. With the script finished and a release date set, casting news should follow shortly.
