A familiar face is returning to a classic horror franchise.

Production on the 10th installment of the classic Saw horror franchise is starting to ramp up, and Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures this week made two key announcements, according to a report in Variety.

Saw 10 (or Saw X–no official title has yet been announced) will slash its way into theaters Oct. 27, 2023 (yup, right before Halloween), and franchise veteran Kevin Greutert (Saw VI and Saw: The Final Chapter) will be behind the cameras. No plot details have been forthcoming, but that news should break soon.

This next film reportedly will be produced by franchise creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell, along with Oren Koules and Mark Burg. Josh Stolberg and Peter Goldfinger reportedly will handle the screenplay.

The original 2004 Saw–directed by Wan and written by Whannell–deals with the mystery of the Jigsaw killer, who tests his victims’ will to live by subjecting them to deadly games during which they must inflict pain on themselves to survive.
