You know who to call.
A familiar face to the Ghostbusters franchise will slip into the director’s char for the upcoming installment, according to a report on Deadline.
Gil Kenan–who wrote and produced last year’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife–will helm the as-yet-untitled film that’s slated for release next Christmastime.
The new Sony Pictures project is now in pre-production, with Jason Reitman–who directed Afterlife–serving as producer and handling the new screenplay along with Kenan and Jason Blumenfeld. As for the cast, sources say most of the ensemble from Afterlife–including Paul Rudd and Carrie Coon–will return.
Kenan said it’s an “absolute honor to pick up the proton pack and step behind the cameras for the next chapter of the Spengler family saga.” And that chapter reportedly will take place in and around the same New York City firehouse where the franchise started back in 1984.
