New alien terrors will hit home next summer.
The new 20th Century Studio contribution to the horror-s/f Alien franchise now has a theatrical release date, but fans will have a bit of a wait.
The new film–directed by Fede Alvarez from a screenplay by Rodo Sayaguez–reportedly is shooting in Budapest for an Aug. 16, 2024 release, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Ridley Scott–who directed the classic 1979 Alien–is producing the movie.
In the film, a group of young people on a distant world “finds themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe.” Not much of a synopsis, but it should be easy enough to fill in the blanks.
The cast includes lead Cailee Spaeny, along with Isabela Merced, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn and Aileen Wu.
