New TV Spot For ‘Renfield’ Mixes Horror With Humor

by Thomas Tuna

“I attend to his needs–especially during daylight hours.”

Renfied–the horror-comedy that puts the spotlight on Count Dracula’s lackey–hits theaters in a month, and a new TV spot has dropped that shows a slice of the bizarre relationship between vampire and toady. Check out the clip on this page.

The R-rated Universal Pictures entry–swooping onto the big screen April 14–is directed by Chris McKay from a screenplay by Ryan Ridley. Nicholas Hoult stars in the title role, with Nicolas Cage filling Dracula’s flowing cloak.

The balance of the cast includes Awkwafina, Ben Schwartz, Adrian Martinez, Shoreh Aghdashloo, Bess Rous and James Moses Black.

In the feature, Renfield–the loyal, but tortured, aide of Dracula–“has been forced to procure his master’s prey and do his every bidding,” according to the synopsis.

But now–finally–Renfield, wanting his freedom, has dared to stand up to the Vampire Lord. But he still has to “figure out how to end his co-dependency.” And thereby hangs a movie.
