Even Manhattan has never seen creatures quite like these.

The Walking Dead: Dead City–one of the spinoffs of the AMC mothership zombie series–is a little more than a month away now, and a new trailer arrived this week to offer some insight into this nightmarish version of New York City. Check out the video on this page.

The upcoming series–which will chronicle the continuing adventures of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie (Lauren Cohen) in a post-apocalyptic Big Apple–debuts on AMC June 18. The cast is rounded out by Gaius Charles, Logan Kim and Zeljko Ivanek.

In the six-episode first season–led by showrunner Eli Jorne–New York City is “filled with the dead,” according to the synopsis, “as well as those who have made the city their own world of anarchy, beauty and terror.” Amid this chaos, Negan and Maggie search for Maggie’s kidnapped son, Hershel (Kim).

This zombie-filled Manhattan is “chaotic,” according to executive producer Scott M. Gimple. “It has its own cultures and its own warring factions. It’s a madhouse, and Maggie and Negan get swept up in it.”
