The 20th Century Studios pic–slated for release June 2–is directed by Rob Savage from a screenplay by Mark Heyman. The PG-13-rated film stars David Dastmalchian, Marin Ireland, Vivien Lyra Blair, Madison Hu, Chris Messina and Sophie Thatcher.
King’s original story deals with a man who visits a psychiatrist to talk about the bloody murders of his three children at the hands of an evil entity, but the movie takes a slightly different tack.
In the film, high school student Sadie Harper and her kid sister Sawyer “are reeling from the recent death of their mother, and aren’t getting much support from their father.” And then, when a man appears at their home, he brings with him “a terrifying supernatural entity that preys on families and feeds on the suffering of its victims.”
