The 10-episode first season–which hits the small screen Jan. 15, 2023–follows Joel (Pedro Pascal), a smuggler plying his trade during a horrifying zombie outbreak. But when he meets up with young Ellie (Bella Ramsey), the pair trek across the wasteland of the destroyed U.S.–as monsters (yes, Clickers) dog their every step.

The series–led by executive producer and screenwriter Crag Mazin–also stars Gabriel Luna as Joel’s brother Tommy; Merle Dandridge as Marlene, leader of the resistance movement called the Fireflies; Jeffrey Pierce as Perry, a rebel in the quarantine zone; Anna Tory as Tess, Joel’s smuggling partner; Lamar Johnson as Henry; and Kelvonn Woodard as Sam.

The ensemble is rounded out by Nick Offerman, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker.
