There’s nothing like an October sleepover to bring on the chills.
Slumber Party Massacre–the remake of the 1982 cult slasher hit The Slumber Party Massacre–just had its coming-out party at Fantastic Fest, and will now hit Syfy Oct. 16, as reported by JoBlo.com. Check out the gory teaser clip on this page.
This reboot–directed by Danishka Esterhazy (The Banana Splits Movie) from a screenplay by Suzanne Keilly (Ash vs Evil Dead)–is described as a “contemporary, twist-filled reimagining of the 1982 classic just in time for Halloween.” As the clip shows, a slumber party, complete with curvy coeds, is disrupted by a psycho brandishing an obscenely large power drill. There will be screaming.
The Shout! Studios remake stars Frances Sholto-Douglas, Hannah Gonera, Mila Rayne, Alex McGregor and Reze-Tiana Wessels.
The original slumber bloodbath–directed by Amy Holden Jones and scripted by Rita Mae Brown–also follows high school seniors who gather for an ill-fated sleepover, only to be hunted by “an escaped power-drill wielding killer.” This film–which spawned two sequels–raked in $3.6 million at the box office on a budget of just $220,000.
