The Blur–a unique spin on terror dealing with the visually impaired–is planning a late fall production start in Boston, according to a report on Deadline.

Produced by Compelling Pictures, The Blur is written and directed by Joe Miale (Revolt), and is based on a pitch from producer Scott Carr.

The feature follows a visually impaired family that is “tormented by a ghost that can only be seen by those who have severe myopia.” The film’s villain–named Smudge–will be brought to life using innovative visual techniques, largely in-camera.

Compelling Pictures said in a statement that Miale “places the same premium on character and emotion that he does on innovative thrills and chills. He depicts differently abled characters on screen as heroes in their own story.”
