New ‘Pearl’ Teaser Drops Prior To Upcoming Theatrical Release

How ya gonna keep her down on the farm?

Pearl–the A24 prequel to X (which was basically a horror flick within an adult pic)–has dropped another (very) brief teaser before the movie hits theaters in a couple of weeks. Check out the disturbingly innocent-looking rural snippet of the film–courtesy of Collider–on this page.

The movie–slated for a theatrical release Sept. 16–is directed by Ti West (The House of the Devil) from a screenplay he wrote with Mia Goth, who reprises her role as the titular character. Goth is joined in the cast by David Corenswet, Tandi Wright, Matthew Sutherland and Emma Jenkins-Purro.

Pearl–set in 1918 during World War I–goes back to the origins of Pearl, the antagonist from X. The film explores how the cabin where the “massacre of X” takes place was once used as a boarding house during the war, according to the synopsis.

X–starring Goth, Brittany Snow, Scott Mescudi, Jenna Ortega, Martin Henderson, Owen Campbell and Stephen Ure–follows a group of young filmmakers in 1979 who “set out to make an adult film in rural Texas,” according to the synopsis. But when their elderly hosts catch them in the act, “the cast has to fight for their lives.”
