New Horror-Thriller ‘A Void’ Starts Production Next Year

by Thomas Tuna

Void: A completely empty space, or the premise of a horror film.

A Void–described as a “genre-bending relationship horror-thriller”–will be shopped by Visit Films at next week’s American Film Market, according to a report on Variety.

The feature–expected to start shooting sometime next year–is the latest project from writer/director Matt D’Elia (American Animal). The cast includes Aya Cash (The Boys), Joshua Leonard (The Blair Witch Project) and Alison Pill (Hail Caesar).

A Void–produced by Adam Mitchell, Mark Rapaport and Amanda Kramer–follows Sarah and Nick, “lifelong urbanites and intellectuals who move to the country to start a new chapter in their lives,” according to the synopsis.

But, their “repressed traumas become more evident–as do the cracks in their relationship–and then they encounter a mysterious anomaly on their property. It’s an inexplicable black void that, according to the laws of physics, shouldn’t exist–but there it is.”

As Sarah and Nick try to understand what they’ve found, “bizarre and terrifying events begin to take place–both in their dreams and in their waking lives.”
