New Horror Film ‘Blood’ Gets Release Date, First Trailer

by Thomas Tuna

Blood is thicker than water.

Blood–a new horror pic from Vertical Entertainment–will land in theaters and on-demand late next month, and a new trailer dropped this week to tease the terrors on the horizon. Check out the video on this page.

The film–set for the big screen Jan. 27, 2023 and on-demand Jan. 31–is directed by Brad Anderson (The Machinist) from a screenplay by Will Honley.

The storyline follows Jess (Michelle Monaghan of the Mission: Impossible franchise), a mother recently separated from her husband (Skeet Ulrich of Scream fame), who moves with her daughter Tyler (Skylar Morgan Jones) and son Owen (Finlay Wojtak-Hissong) back into her old farmhouse, according to the synopsis.

But, soon after settling in, Owen’s dog escapes into the woods and returns days later, “blood-soaked and rabid.” When the dog bites Owen, “the resulting infection grows more alarming by the day–and Owen’s behavior becomes frightening and deadly.”

The boy “spirals deeper into the depths of the illness, and Jess discovers a disturbing cure–one which makes her question how far she is willing to go to keep her child alive.”

The film also features genre veterans June B. Wilde (Final Destination 5), Rodrigo Beilfuss (Intersection) and Erik Athavale (Orphan: First Kill).
