Frank Grillo has found yet another horror project to headline.
Grillo–best known to horror fans for his roles in The Purge franchise–recently signed on to star in two new genre films–Year 2 and Man’s Son. And this week, the busy actor landed the lead role in the brand-new horror thriller Merciless, according to a report in Deadline.
The film–being shopped at Cannes this week by Sentient Pictures International–is being directed by Liam O’Donnell (the Skylines film franchise) from a screenplay by Frank Hannah (The Cooler).
In Merciless–slated to start principal photography in Alabama this August–when the wife of the government’s top interrogator is “possessed by a malevolent spirit, he seeks vengeance on those who were closest to the entity in its previous life,” according to the synopsis.
The interrogator strives to “drive the entity out of her body, only to discover that everything is not what it appears to be.”
