New Cast Member Joins Danish Horror Reboot ‘Speak No Evil’

Strained relationships erupt.

The actor’s strike apparently hasn’t affected the Blumhouse reboot thriller Speak No Evil from adding a new cast member.

Alix West Lefler (Riverdale) this week signed on for the feature, according to a report on Deadline, joining lead James McAvoy, Mackenzie Davis and Scoot McNairy in the cast. The film–which reportedly had started shooting in Europe for an Aug. 9, 2024 release–is written and directed by James Watkins.

It’s not clear if the ongoing writers’ and actors’ strikes have had an impact on the movie’s production schedule.

The original Danish film follows two families (one Danish, one Dutch) who meet on a vacation in Tuscany. Months later, the Dutch family invites the Danish couple for a weekend getaway, “but the joy of reunion is replaced by misunderstandings.”

The Dutch hospitality unnerves the Danes, “and they find themselves increasingly caught in a web of their own politeness in the face of sinister behavior.”
