Evil has evolved–be very afraid.
The Resident Evil live-action series–based on the popular video game franchise–lands on Netflix this summer, and the first teaser trailer was dropped this week. Check out the frightening video–courtesy of screenrant.com–on this page.
The eight-episode series–which kicks off July 14–is set in the year 2036, some 14 years after “a deadly virus caused a global apocalypse,” according to the logline. “Jade Wesker fights for survival in a world overrun by blood-thirsty, infected, insane creatures.”
Amid this carnage, Jade is “haunted by her past in New Raccoon City and by her father’s chilling connections to the Umbrella Corporation–but mostly by what happened to her sister Billie.”
Resident Evil–led by showrunner Andrew Dabb (who wrote the series with Mary Leah Sutton)–stars Lance Reddick, Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, Paola Nunez, Ahad Raza Mir, Connor Gossatti and Turlough Convery.
Netflix said in a statement that the series brings together “heroes, insane creatures, a battle for survival, questions about what it means to be family, the Umbrella Corporation’s greed and corruption and–of course–a deep mystery to unravel.”
