Netflix Is Conjuring Up Second Season Of ‘Wednesday’

The kooky girl has staying power.

To the surprise of virtually no one who watched the first smash season of Wednesday on Netflix, the streamer has picked up the show for Season 2, according to a report on Deadline.

The no-brainer stemmed, no doubt, from the show becoming only the third Netflix offering to pass the one billion hours viewed mark–making it the second most-watched U.S. show behind the fourth season of Stranger Things.

Wednesday–based on the ’60s classic The Addams Family–is led by executive producer and director Tim Burton and showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar.

In the show so far, a teenaged Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) enters Nevermore Academy as she tries to “master her emerging physic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago,” according to the synopsis.

The “mysterious and spooky” cast is rounded out by Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Luis Guzman as Gomez, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley, Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester, George Burcea as Lurch, Victor Dorobantu as the ever-handy Thing and Christina Ricci (who played Wednesday on the big screen) as Marilyn Thornhill.
