“The moving finger writes; and, having writ, moves on…”
It’s doubtful that Omar Khayyam had the Addams Family’s disembodied hand, Thing, in mind when he wrote those words, but it certainly applies to a new teaser dropped this week for the upcoming Netflix series Wednesday.
Check out the brief video–courtesy of collider.com–and watch as Thing announces the series and promises a trailer scheduled to pop up next week during the streamer’s Geeked Week.

The eight-episode series–slated for a fall debut on Netflix–is, of course, based on the far-famed cartoons by Charles Addams and the classic ’60s The Addams Family TV series starring John Astin and Carolyn Jones.
Wednesday— a “sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery”–will follow the Addams daughter during her time at Nevermore Academy. In the series, she “attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago.”
The show stars Jenna Ortega as Wednesday, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Luis Guzman as Gomez, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley, Riki Lindhome as Dr. Valerie Kinbott, Jamie McShane as Sheriff Donovan Galpin, Gwendoline Christie as Latrissa Weems and Christina Ricci (who played Wednesday on the big screen) in an undisclosed role. Acclaimed composer Danny Elfman will handle the score.
