The new series–led by showrunner Declan de Barra and executive producers Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and Matt O’Toole–is set in an Elven world some 1,200 years before The Witcher. The show tells the origin of the first Witcher and the events that led to “the pivotal conjunction of the spheres–when the worlds of monsters, men and Elves merged to become one,” according to the synopsis.
The series–which stars Michelle Yeoh, Jacob Collins-Levy, Sophia Brown and Laurence O’Fuarain–will have Sarah O’Gorman and Vicky Jewson directing.
The Witcher: Blood Origin is based on the book series by Andrzej Sapkowski, who is on board as a creative consultant. “It’s exciting that the world of The Witcher–as planned from the very beginning–is expanding,” he said.
