Netflix Drops First Clip For ‘The Witcher: Blood Origin’

Every story has a beginning…and some are bloodier than others.

Fans of the hit Netflix horror/fantasy series The Witcher are enjoying Season 2, and now the first teaser for the prequel–The WitcherBlood Origin–has arrived. And the video, courtesy of comicbook.com, can be seen on this page.

The clip shows three of the new show’s characters–Scian (Michelle Yeoh), Fjall (Laurence O’Fuarain) and Elle (Sophia Brown)–in a fierce battle against advancing enemies.

The rest of the cast includes Lenny Henry as Chief Druid Balor, Mirren Mack as Merwyn, Zach Wyatt as Syndril, Huw Novelli as Callan, Nathaniel Curtis as Brian, Jacob Collins-Levy as Eredin, Dylan Moran as Uthrok, Lizzie Annis as Zacare, Francesca Mills as Meldof and Amy Murray as Fenrik.

The six-episode series–led by showrunner Declan de Barra and executive producers Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and Matt O’Toole–is set in an Elven world some 1,200 years before The Witcher. It tells the origin of the first Witcher and the events “that led to the pivotal conjunction of the spheres–when the worlds of monsters, men and Elves merged to become one.”

For directors, the show has lined up Sarah O’Gorman (for episodes 101, 104 and 106) and Vicky Jewson (for episodes 102, 103 and 105).

The WitcherBlood Origin is based on the book series by Andrzej Sapkowski, who is on board as a creative consultant. “It is exciting that the world of The Witcher–as planned in the very beginning–is expanding,” he said.

The Witcher–which kicked off its second season Dec. 17–stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia (the magically enhanced monster hunter known as a Witcher), Freya Allan as Princess Ciri, Anya Chalotra as the sorceress Yennefer and Joey Batey as Jaskier.

With no specific 2022 debut date yet set for The WitcherBlood Origin, keep reading Horror News Network for more updates on this new Netflix series.
