Netflix Announces August Debut For ‘Day Shift’

Jamie Foxx will put down his Oscar statuette and hunt some vampires this summer.

Day Shift–a new Netflix horror film–will land on the streamer Aug. 12, as reported by Deadline, with Foxx starring and serving as an executive producer.

The vampire flick–directed by J.J. Perry from a screenplay by Tyler Rice and Shay Hatten–follows a “hard-working, blue-collar dad who just wants to provide a good life for his daughter,” according to the logline.

Where it takes a turn for the macabre is that his mundane San Fernando Valley pool cleaning job is a front for his real source of income–“hunting and killing vampires as part of an international union of vampire hunters.” Those guys have a union?

Day Shift also features Dave Franco, Karla Souza, Meagan Good, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Oliver Masucci, Snoop Dogg, Steve Howey, Scott Adkins and Zion Broadnax.

Producer Shaun Redick called the movie a “pulse-pounding thrill ride–with action, danger, grounded comedy and a deep mythology.”

Redick is joined by Chad Stahelski, Jason Spitz and Yvette Yates Redick as producers, with Foxx, Batari Turner and Peter Baxter as executive producers.
