Neon Reveals Release Date for ‘The Monkey’

Another Stephen King adaptation has been dated for the big screen.

Neon took to Twitter, the post can be seen below, to announce the official release date for their upcoming feature The Monkey. Adapted from a Stephen King short story, The Monkey will be directed by Osgood Perkins (son of Anthony Perkins), produced by James Wan, and will star Theo James, Tatiana Maslany, and Elijah Wood.

The official synopsis according to Neon reads “When twin brothers Hal and Bill discover their father’s old monkey toy in the attic, a series of gruesome deaths starts occurring all around them. The brothers decide to throw the monkey away and move on with their lives, growing apart over the years. But when the mysterious deaths begin again, the brothers must reunite to find a way to destroy the monkey for good before it takes the lives of everyone close to them.”

A short story by Stephen King, The Monkey was first published as a booklet included in Gallery magazine in 1980. It was later revised and then published in King’s collection Skeleton Crew in 1985.
