Despite poor fan reaction to recent big-screen adaptations of the Dracula legend, the vampire lord remains a legendary horror figure, and now NECA is rolling out a brand-new, glow-in-the-dark Bela Lugosi version of the bloodsucking count. This retro-style Dracula figure–scheduled to hit the NECA Store soon–is a tribute to the classic 1980s collectible made by Remco. The seven-inch-tall figure boasts a vinyl cape and bloody fangs–along with its eerie glowing feature.
The original 1931 Dracula classic–directed by Tod Browning from a screenplay by Garrett Fort–is based on the 1924 stage play that adapted Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula. In the film, Lugosi portrays Count Dracula, a vampire who travels to England from Transylvania and (of course) preys upon the blood of his victims–including a young man’s fiancee.
