The Man of a Thousand Faces has a new look.
A new Phantom of the Opera seven-inch scale figure–with the authorized likeness of the immortal Lon Chaney–will haunt horror collections next summer thanks to NECA. Check out photos of the figure–courtesy of Toyark–on this page.
The collectible–now available for pre-order from Entertainment Earth and Big Bad Toy Store–features five interchangeable portraits (both masked and unmasked), interchangeable hands, a fabric cloak, a removable hat and a cane. A display-friendly window box comes with an opening front flap.
The realistic rendition of the classic Chaney horror character–priced at about $35–is slated for release in August 2023.
The Phantom of the Opera–the 1925 silent film adaptation of Gaston Leroux’ 1910 novel Le Fantome de l’Opera–is directed by Rupert Julian and stars Chaney as the deformed Phantom who haunts the Paris Opera House–as he tries to make the woman he loves a star. Chaney’s famous makeup for the part was kept a studio secret until the film’s premiere.
