Natialie Portman is in the early stages of a deal to star in the post-apocalyptic horror film ‘Annihilation’ from director Alex Garland (Ex Machina) and Paramount. The project is an adaptation of a book by Jeff VanderMeer and being produced by Scott Rudin.
The story centers around a biologist (Portman) who participates in a four-person expedition to a territory cutoff from civilization called Area X. While there she searches for her husband, meanwhile she must deal with colleagues disappearing, a mysterious contamination, and a dangerous creature called the Crawler. Garland’s book was released February 2014 and is part of a trilogy. Known for writing ’28 Days Later’ and ‘The Beach’, he penned the script adaptation of the book for ‘Annihilation’ as well.
