‘Morbius’ Poster Shows Cast Of Characters For Vampire Film

Marvel’s living vampire is finally on the way–and a new poster shows the crew he’s bringing along for the ride.

The much-delayed Sony Pictures’ Morbius–slated to swoop into theaters April 1–this week unveiled a striking poster of the Jared Leto-led cast to pique everyone’s interest. Check out the poster–courtesy of comicbook.com–on this page.

Morbius–directed by Daniel Espinosa from a screenplay by Matt Sazama, Art Marcum, Matt Holloway and Burk Sharpless–details the eerie transformation of Dr. Michael Morbius into the dangerous antihero. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others from suffering his fate, the scientist “attempts a desperate gamble,” according  to the official synopsis.

“While at first it seems to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed. Will good override evil–or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?”

Morbius stars the Oscar-winning Leto as the titular living vampire, along with Jared Harris, Tyrese Gibson, Adria Arjona, Matt Smith and Michael Keaton (as the Vulture from the Spider-Man universe).

Given that the Marvel Comics Morbius character debuted in a 1971 issue of The Amazing SpiderMan (from writer Roy Thomas and artist Gil Kane), there has been conjecture about a potential crossover between the two characters.

When asked about a cinematic meeting, Tom Holland–the current web-slinging star–said Morbius “looks really cool. And it’s more scary. I think it could be a cool thing…Spider-Man versus a vampire.”

Leto added fuel to the fire, saying that the latest Spider-Man blockbuster has “officially opened” the multiverse. “There’s all kinds of opportunities for villains to meet up, and maybe nurture their more sinister intents,” he said.
