‘Monsters Of Metal’ Comic Book Scares Up Film Version

Hers’s a new way to do the Monster Mash.

Filmmaker Jason Howden (Guns Akimbo) is bringing his original Opus Comics series Monsters of Metal to the screen, according to a report on Deadline.

Howden will direct and co-write the feature with Llexi Leon–who founded Opus and parent company Incendium–based on the comic that’s described as an “R-rated mockumentary and a cross between Spinal Tap and The Monster Squad.”

The comic–which hits shops Oct. 19–tells the story of Frankenstein’s Monster and his heavy metal band mates Medusa, Jack O’Lantern, Wolfman and the Bride as they find themselves without a home after being booted out of Dracula’s castle.

So, the ghastly musicians/horror icons find themselves on the road, dealing with groupies, monster hunters and other assorted creatures as they try to live out their spooky heavy metal aspirations.

This adaptation marks Howden’s return to his horror and heavy metal roots following his 2015 Deathgasm feature. He also has done visual effects work on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and War of the Planet of the Apes.
