These guys look ready to kick some alien butt.
Mondo will roll out action figures of the main protagonists from two classic 1980s John Carpenter horror films–The Thing and They Live. Check out photos of the collectible pair–courtesy of Toyark–on this page.
The 1/6-scale figures are based on R.J. MacReady (Kurt Russell) from The Thing, and John Nada (Roddy Piper) from They Live. The MacReady figure comes complete with a flamethrower, the Spider Head Thing and the Dog Thing, while the Nada figure includes a shotgun, pistol, ammo belt and (of course) sunglasses. What, no bubble gum?
No price tag or release window has yet been announced, so stay tuned for more details.
The Thing–the 1982 horror-s/f pic directed by Carpenter from a screenplay by Bill Lancaster–stars Russell as a helicopter pilot who helps a group of researchers in Antarctica who encounter the titular Thing, an extraterrestrial life form that assimilates–and then imitates–other organisms.
They Live–the 1988 film written and directed by Carpenter–stars Piper as a drifter who discovers–using a special pair of sunglasses–that the ruling class is actually aliens concealing their true appearance.
