Michael Kopsa–a prolific actor who made his mark on horror and fantasy–has passed away of complications from a brain tumor. Kopsa was 66.

Kopsa’s passing was announced by his ex-wife Lucia Frangione on Twitter, according to a report on Deadline.

A Toronto, Canada, native, Kopsa studied acting at New York’s Circle in the Square Theater School in the 1980s. He eventually returned to Canada and, throughout his long career, would perform in series filmed or made in Toronto or Vancouver.

Perhaps best known for his work in such genre series as The X-Files, Highlander and Smallville, Kopsa also had roles in Poltergeist: The Legacy, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, The Dead Zone TV series and The Outer Limits.

The staff of Horror News Network extends its condolences to Kopsa’s family, friends and colleagues.
