Mezco Toyz, the trail-blazing toy company who have been revolutionizing the horror collectible market for over 20 years, seized the opportunity to fill a huge void left by the cancellation of New York Toy Fair 2021 by creating Mezco Toyz Fair 2021. Spread over three jam-packed days from February 20th through the 22nd, the virtual event promises giveaways, exclusive access to employees and designers, and six huge new product reveals, announced at the top of every hour, unveiling all of the One:12 Collective, Five Points and Living Dead Doll goodies and licenses which would normally be on display for the first time at the Jacob Javits Center in NYC.
HNN will be including a wrap-up of the big reveals from each of the three days, along with our thoughts on the horror genre entries. Check it out!
Day 2 (February 21st)
- MDS The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974): Leatherface
Day 2 of Mezco Toy Fair kicked off in grand style, with one of the most iconic horror slashers in history. The Mezco Designer Series (MDS) version of the chainsaw-wielding Leatherface, from the 1974 classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, is a collector’s dream. Or nightmare, depending on how you look at it. This figure features incredible detail in the mask and body, and comes complete with multiple weapons for all of the murderous mayhem you can handle. Do the dance for me, baby! There is no street date for the MDS Leatherface as of yet.
- LDD Presents Silent Hill 2: Bubble Head Nurse
While the movie version of Silent Hill may have disappointed, the toy line has been on point! Day 2 of the virtual fair brings us our first Living Dead Doll entry, and it was worth the wait. Bubble Head Nurse from the game franchise gets the figure treatment here, and the detail on this piece is sick for sure. This is still pending licensor approval, so no hints yet as to when this will be available. You may want to reconsider ever visiting this hospital……
- One:12 Collective Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972)
And the one One:12 Collective sneaks one in on day 2, and it’s a doozy. A license that gets a lot of love but rarely any great modern toys, Planet of the Apes, will see both a Caesar figure as well as the Gorilla soldier molds. Horror fans have long admired these damn dirty apes, and Mezco delivers big-time here. The detail and soft goods are incredible, again pending licensor approval. In the immortal words of Troy McLure, “oh no, I was wrong. It was earth, all along.”
Stay tuned to HNN for the horror highlights of Day 3 of Mezco Toyz Fair 2021!!
