Melissa Barrera: More Blood Will Flow In ‘Scream 6’

Sounds like this film will give fans plenty to scream about.

Scream 6–slated to slash into theaters March 10, 2023–will see Melissa Barrera reprise her role as Sam Carpenter and, from what she said recently, fans of the franchise are in for a bloody treat this time around.

Barrera–who called Scream fans “really special and unique”–told Collider the next installment in the franchise will not skimp on the bloodshed. The film’s directors–Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett–were “always asking for more blood and more sweat,” she said. “More blood spritz was the saying because they would always want more.”

The actor added that, with the last film, “they were trying to be very respectful of what the franchise had been up to that point–and keeping their inner gory dreams at bay. But with this one, they were going all out. It’s potentially 100 times gorier.”

Scream 6–written by returning screenwriters James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick–will also star veterans Jenna Ortega, Courteney Cox, Hayden Panettiere, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding–along with newcomers Dermot Mulroney, Jack Champion, Liana Liberato, Devyn Nekoda, Josh Segarra and Henry Czerny.

The film will follow the four survivors of the last Ghostface killings, “as they leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter.” Where are they headed? How about Manhattan? The City That Never Sleeps better brace for a new nightmare.
