True love never runs smooth.
The One–described as a “nightmarish horror” about the reality dating show craze–will star Melissa Barrera of Scream fame, according to The Hollywood Reporter. No production schedule or release window was announced.
The film–from the writer/director team of Kevin Armento and Jaki Bradley–also stars Nicholas Hoult (the upcoming Nosferatu remake) and Lana Condor (Deadly Class). Hoult will also produce, along with Riley Keough, Whitaker Lader and Gina Gammell.
In The One, Taylor (Barrera) becomes a contestant on a reality dating show, vying to win the heart of Mason (Hoult). But, Taylor “begins to feel the artifice of the show fade–and the game become terrifyingly real,” according to the synopsis.
Amid beachfront settings and never-ending food and champagne, “pursuit turns into obsession and rivalry turns into treachery–as reality itself blurs.”
