Ghost Rider roars on with a white-hot vengeance.
Marvel’s most recent Ghost Rider series from Benjamin Percy and Cory Smith kicked into high gear early last year and quickly became a critical success and a fan-favorite. In fact, the book earned the Horror News Network 2022 Horror Comic Series of the Year Award.
And now, The House of Ideas–never a group to rest on its laurels–is back with a brand-new mini-series featuring Danny Ketch as the Spirit of Vengeance, according to a report on comicbook.com.
The new five-issue series–from the writer-artist team of Howard Mackie and Javier Saltares (the duo that launched the Ketch/Ghost Rider character in 1990)–will hit comic book shops May 17.
Interestingly, these comics are not set in the present time, but feature a throwback storyline to “a time when innocent blood was spilled, a Spirit of Vengeance was born and Danny Ketch was transformed into the Ghost Rider,” according to the synopsis.
In these comics, a gang war is breaking out across New York City, with Ghost Rider caught in the middle. But, “if it’s just rival gangs killing each other, does Ghost Rider need to get involved?”
Mackie said “returning to my roots–Cypress Hills, cemeteries, Ghost Rider, the penance stare–was not something I saw coming. It was a long, hard look back–and I took to it like Ghost Rider to the penance stare. And I’m tackling the story–and more than a few new and old villainous favorites–with a vengeance.”
