It was inevitable–more M3GAN is on the way.
M3GAN 2.0–the just-named sequel to the box office sensation from Blumhouse Productions and Atomic Monster–is officially in the pipeline, with key cogs both behind and in front of the cameras in place, according to a report on Deadline.
The sequel–slated to hit theaters Jan. 17, 2025–will again be scripted by Akela Cooper, with stars Allison Williams and Violet McGraw on board to reprise their roles.
James Wan and Jason Blum will again produce the feature. There is no word at this time if Gerard Johnstone will return to the director’s chair.
M3GAN–which has already earned an impressive $92 million worldwide on a $12- million budget–follows Gemma (Williams), a toy company roboticist who creates M3GAN (Model 3 Generative Android)–a lifelike doll that’s programmed to be “a child’s greatest companion and a parent’s greatest ally,” according to the synopsis.
But, when Gemma gets custody of her eight-year-old orphaned niece Cady (McGraw), things go south quickly. The android becomes increasingly more independent, and violent towards anyone who poses a threat to Cady.
The film also stars Ronny Chieng, Brian Jordan Alvarez, Jen Van Epps, Lori Dungey and Stephanie Garneau-Moriten.
