‘M3GAN’ Sequel In Production, Aims For Early 2025 Release

This doll is back on the production line.

M3GAN 2.0–the much-anticipated follow-up to the 2022 horror hit–has officially started the creative ball rolling, according to producer Ryan Turek.

The Blumhouse filmmaker recently told Collider that work on the sequel “is underway. We haven’t started shooting or anything like that. But we’re aiming towards that January release date that was set.”

The film–from Blumhouse and Atomic Monster–is slated to hit the big screen Jan. 17, 2025. Returning to work on the feature are director Gerard Johnstone, screenwriter Akela Cooper and producers Jason Blum and James Wan–along with stars Allison Williams and Violet McGraw.

The original M3GAN follows Gemma (Williams), a toy company roboticist who creates M3GAN (Model 3 Generative Android)–a lifelike doll that’s programmed to be “a child’s greatest companion–and a parent’s greatest ally.”

Unfortunately, when Gemma gets custody of her eight-year-old orphaned niece Cady (McGraw), the android becomes increasingly more independent–and violent towards anyone who threatens Cady.
