Deadline has reported that everyone’s favorite 80’s vampire movie, The Lost Boys, is the latest in a string of former movie titles that is slated to be re-launched as a television show. The CW Network has acquired the show which is said to be a re-imaging of the popular Joel Schumacher classic.
Written by Rob Thomas, the creator of Veronica Mars and iZombie, this newest version of The Lost Boys was pitched as a seven-season anthology spanning seven decades in the life of the main cast of vampires with each season covering a different decade; Season One will be based in San Francisco during the 1960’s hippie movement.
While there is no news yet of any casting or a premiere date, it would seem that this is a good time for the “re-launch” as interest in The Lost Boys appears to be re-surging; Vertigo Comics has recently announced plans to launch a comic book sequel that will pick up directly where the 1987 film left off in Santa Carla with the Emerson family and the Frog brothers.
