Would the last one to leave Keyhouse lock the door?
Locke & Key–the popular supernatural Netflix series–will end its run with Season 3 that will debut sometime later this year, according to a report in Deadline.
And, actually, that’s just the way the showrunners had it drawn up. Carlton Cuse and Meredith Averill reportedly were looking to bring the series to a logical close after three seasons. The first two seasons consisted of 10 episodes apiece, and the final season is planed for eight episodes. Season 3 is currently in post-production.
“Once we began working on the series, we felt three seasons was the ideal length to bring the story of the Locke family and their Keyhouse adventures to a satisfying conclusion,” the showrunners said in a statement.
Locke & Key follows the Locke siblings as they move with their mother into their ancestral home–Keyhouse–following the mysterious death of their father. The house, they soon discover, is full of magical keys that may be connected to their father’s death.
Unfortunately, as they start to learn more about those keys and their unique powers, “a mysterious demon awakens–and will stop at nothing to steal them,” according to the logline.
The principal cast for Season 3 includes Darby Stanchfield, Connor Jessup, Emilia Jones, Jackson Robert Scott, Brendan Hines, Sherri Saum, Kevin Durand and Coby Bird.
Locke & Key is adapted from the bestselling IDW comic book of the same name by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez that ran for 37 original issues from 2008-2013.
