by Jayson Drury

Don’t look for Boris Karloff in this flick.

News has been coming hot and heavy on Lisa Frankenstein–the Focus Features entry that puts a modern twist on the Mary Shelley classic–and now several new cast members have signed on, according to a report on Deadline.

The horror-comedy–from Zelda Williams (making her feature film directing debut) and screenwriter Diablo Cody (Jennifer’s Body)–is set in 1989 and follows a high school girl who resurrects a handsome Victorian corpse using her tanning bed and a lightning storm–perhaps bringing the perfect man into her life, along with a whole set of unintended consequences.

The new cast members include Carla Gugino (The Fall of the House of Usher and other Mike Flanagan horror projects), Joe Chrest (Stranger Things), Henry Eikenberry (The Crowded Room) and Filipino-American actress/singer Liza Soberano (making her Hollywood debut).

This quartet joins stars Cole Sprouse (Riverdale) as the monster and horror-comedy veteran Kathryn Newton (Freaky).

With no release window yet announced, keep reading Horror News Network for the next update on Lisa Frankenstein.
