Leads Named For Remake Of Cult Horror Feature ‘Faces Of Death’

Death has two new faces.

It’s been nearly two years since word broke about Legendary Entertainment planning a remake of the controversial 1978 graphic horror pic Faces of Death. This week, two lead actors signed on for the bloody ride, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Barbie Ferreira (Euphoria) and Dacre Montgomery (Stranger Things) will work with director Daniel Goldhaber and screenwriter Isa Mazzei on the feature produced by Susan Montford, Don Murphy and Cory Kaplan.

The reboot’s storyline follows a female moderator of a YouTube-like website whose job is to “weed out offensive and violent content” and who “stumbles across a group that is recreating the murders from the original film.”

The original Faces of Death–written and directed by John Alan Schwartz–features pathologist Francis B. Gross (Michael Carr) as a host who presented gruesome deaths caught on tape. Though the film appeared to show actual deaths, most of the footage was shot specifically for the movie–complete with actors and production crew members.

The film–banned in several countries and panned by many critics–was a box office sensation, raking in $35 million worldwide on a budget of just $450,000.
